10/10/2002 Entry: "Sponsored By The Letters Aye and Arrr."

I hate Fleet Week. I'm not big on military grandstanding, and the airshow just sounds like war (and wasted money) to me. So when found this on the Squid List, aye, suddenly my feelings made sense (highlighting mine).

Do ya like sailors, lad? Take to the high seas and join a rowdy gang of pirates to drive the US Navy from San Francisco waters at Fleet Week, this Sunday in San Francisco. Meet at Justin Herman Plaza, on the north side of Market at Embarcadero.

Our day of drink and plunder shall being at high noon, when the Blue Angels fly over our heads and down Market St, mocking our soverignty of the high seas.

After the airrr show we'll maraud our way down Embarcadero where we'll board the ships of the United States Navy. Due to heightened secyarrr-aty, Pirates who wish to board Navy vessels will need to leave large sea chests on shore and show a valid US ID. *Please RSVP by Friday at 5PM* so that I know how many resarrrvations to make.

After the boarding parties have returned, all pirates who have not been thrown in the brig shall proceed to Pier 39, where the "Galaxy" military band will be performing. I'll wager that some drinking and wenching shall be involved also, aye.

This voyage is free. The management are not responsible for lost peg legs, stolen parrots, and unwanted trips to the brig.

I'm not sure if I'll make it there to hoist the Jolly Rogered or not, but we'll see.

You have to go! For me. Because I'm here and you're there. Get better and go! That is your mission!
