Lost it.

What's this? A little dust in my eye.
Well I'm not the type to cry.

Not once, but twice. Laurie put her new song "Slip Away" and her old one "White Lily" together in concert and suddenly I had a hard time holding it together. I recovered, and laughed along with some of her stories. But then she had to end with "Love Among the Sailors" and I couldn't stand for long as she took final bows.

Bitch.

Public Art.

Sure, artists want people to respond to their work. Maybe even like it. So what happens if you try to make art by public opinion poll? And how about music? I have to get this CD. (There's also an interview with the artists/composers and a sample of the statistically most-loved and most-hated songs on this episode of This American Life.)

The scary part is my immediate first thought on hearing the statistically-least-enjoyable song was that it sounded an awful lot like some of my most beloved Nina Hagen albums. And the Roommate, who is less fond of Ms. Hagen, said...the same thing.

Labored Links.

I need a shower and then the Boyfriend and I are going shopping. So you get links for Labor Day.

According to the Simpsons Character Tester I'm a Marge Simpson. "You should listen to your heart, and not the voices in your head." (Link via Llamalicious)

Fans of They Might Be Giants in particular should check out the original Science Songs. Science fans should probably not sing these science songs out loud, for fear of furthering any stereotypes.
